Scandi barn: Will Taylor
After purchasing a 1952 Cape Cod cottage style home in the Bellport village of South Shore. Long Island, in 2017, blogger, designer and author, Will Taylor of Bright Bazaar, spent the next year renovating the space with an elevated coastal theme.
For his next project, Taylor added a 900 square foot addition to the structure, which he has named the “Scandi Barn” for its Scandinavian modern farmhouse styling. Will wanted to create a space that flowed openly to the outdoors, letting natural light in an creating easy access to his outdoor living space and pool area.
Will opted for five large E-Series doors to line the hall to the backyard pool area and deck. Given Bellport experiences all four seasons, the five doors let the outdoors in when opened and weather allows. When closed, they let in abundant streams of natural light no matter the season.
In the bedroom, the inswing patio door opens directly to the pool space – creating a cohesive look and feel between the room’s interior style and outdoor oasis.
The doors feature a 2x3 grille pattern with black contemporary hardware, creating the look of steel doors.
